The Drake & Future Formula: How To Become a Successful Rapper

Our number one advice to artists is that it is not enough to make great music, that won’t get you noticed. you have to actually learn how to promote and market your music so it can be heard by the world. only then can you gain fans and have those fans purchase your music.

I always tell our clients this, as well as write this so our readers can view it, it’s something that i learned in business school from our marketing professor. She said that visibility = credibility. The more your product is visible in the sight of people, the more credibility your company and product builds.

I say this because it is the same with music. Music is your product. The more visible you are on Blogs, Forums, Social Media, interviews, magazines, Radio etc. The more credible you are to rap fans who are on those platforms. As a media company and promotion company we a fortunate to get repeat customers of our services. But sometimes we get clients who are one offs. They either purchase our services once and never again. Or purchase our services once every 6-8 months. And to be honest this produces little to no results for them.

Why is this? Well it’s because within that 8 months a thousand artists have put out several songs and mixtapes. A thousand new artists have landed countless radio interviews and blog features. A thousand artists have performed countless shows and released several music videos. And because of it have created VISIBILITY and CREDIBILITY among rap fans. So essentially they have taken your spot and made money while you were jerking around trying to get the “Right Formula” down.

The right formula is not sitting on music. The right formula to success is not waiting every 8-12 months to drop a mixtape or single. That is ridiculous in this day and age. Now a days you have to drop music on a consistent basis because now people consume music more frequently due to the internet.

By the time you wait to drop your music, someone else has already taken your spot and is making thousands of dollars a month instead of you! We see it all the time because we are promoting that very person EVERY MONTH like clock work. Don’t make an excuse that you don’t have money, you solve that problem by getting a job like normal people do. Your job will help pay your bills and also feed your music career and promotion or your projects.

If the majority of our rap artist clients can manage the money you can also. Again, the key to success is consistency and visibility. Remember when people started call rapper Chamilionaire the Mixtape Messiah? This was due to him releasing mixtapes every 5 months or so. Too much music?? Hell no! This is how people consume music now a days there’s no such thing as too much music, not anymore. We’re in the internet age now.

Chamillionaire went on to make millions of dollars from his mixtapes. Had songs on radio, did interviews, won awards and now invests his money into Tech companies. Go Google him he’s living comfortably.

Remember when Lil Wayne put out 100 songs in one year? Or when Jay-Z put out 1-2 albums for 12 years straight; with single songs and videos in between? How about the rappers running the game right now; Drake and Future. How much music have they been putting out? An album every 2 years?? No. Future has been staying hot by releasing singles, videos and mixtapes often; one recently with drake. I will let you do the research on that.

The formula for success which the greatest rappers alive have been using is dropping consistent music all the time, and marketing that music to the masses. If you’re not succeeding as an artist look at the rate your releasing music and how often your promoting it.

Release music often, promote it often, perform often, get featured often and your status will grow over time. This is how you do it in the music industry of today. Good luck!
