How To Get On Hip Hop Blogs

IndieHipHopBlogs

One of the methods you should include in your music promotion strategy is getting yourself on music blogs. Now there are some music industry professionals that argue for you to get your music on any blog you can. The more the merrier. What I say it totally the opposite. I say get on blogs that:

1) Are relevant to music

2) Have a decent – high amount of traffic

3) Have a decent – high social media followers

4) Will promote you to their followers, fans and associates

These three elements will lead to your music exposure time and time again. What good is placing your music on a blog that caters only to Network Marketers? It makes no sense. Like this one time I seen a banner ad of a new rap artist on a high traffic site that sells electronics.

The artist may have thought because it’s a site that gets many visitors a month that it was a god idea to purchase ad space on the site. But he failed to realize that people are going there to buy electronics, not click on a banner add to hear music from an artist. He definitely wasted money on that one.

Below I’ve listed  the importance of getting on a music blog. This is actually a follow up to How To Get Reviewed By A Music Blog which is a great way to showcase who you are as an artist.

A blog and a site are two different things. I know a lot of you are confused when it comes to knowing the difference. A blog is primarily built to inform their visitors on a particular topic relevant to the site. Like our site.

This is a rap blog that informs and showcases indie artists. The last blog posts we share are frequent throughout the day, and are always on top of the site for viewing.

A website is a static page. It outlines basic information about a company, its mission, and contact information, like: http://hiphoppush.com .  A website is meant to sell, advertise, and showcase content. Getting on a rap website can be a great way for you to showcase your videos and singles.

These sites are great for promoting your music because they can introduce you to a whole new audience. This is what you essentially want. New fans can lead to generating more money.

How To Get On Hip Hop Blogs

First make sure you have all your materials in order. This means your music in MP3 and Wave file. Your EPK (Electronic Press Kit), Music links to Soundcloud, Audiomack etc, social media links, photos, and website links.

You next move is contact the owner of the site or website content manager and email them your music materials. Some sites will allow you to upload your music to their site after creating a profile. My advice is to do it.

Always follow email etiquette; be polite, show your interest in their blog, and mention why your music is a great fit for their site. Always remember to follow up and be consistent with your submissions.

Submit music every chance you get and make sure your music is good quality. Take your music career seriously when it comes to promoting it, because without blog features, radio, magazine and performing, your rap career is as good as dead!
