Are Your Missing Money From Sound Exchange?

sound

Sound Exchange is a music organization that has been directed to collect and distribute online and satellite radio royalties owed to its members; Just like a Performing Rights Organization.

One of the issues is a lot artists in general don’t know of Sound Exchange. That’s right, both artists who are signed to a major label or independent of one, don’t know anything about Sound Exchange, and therefor are missing out on receiving these radio royalties.

The Sound Exchange Website lists almost 200 artists and musicians who have not filed for their internet or satellite radio royalties. These acts include N.W.A., Easy E, Charlie Baltimore, Das EFX, Flipmode Squad ( Busta Rhymes Group), Junior Mafia, Kriss Kross, Lost Boyz, N.E.R.D. (Rap Producer Pharrell’s Group), Slumb Villiage, Jimmy Hendricks and the list goes on and on. These are just a list of the rappers, but there are countless R&B, Rock, Pop and Soul artists and musicians that are listed on the site.

Again, the reason why some artists don’t seek out their money, is because they don’t know about Sound Exchange. We think that the organization needs to do a better job at reaching out to artists, and their labels to let them know about royalties owed to them. Of course, that would take up a lot of time and resources; so We think they should endorse a big musician that would help in getting their message out to the masses.

For you indie artists you’re in luck, because you have us to give you all the information you need when it comes to the music industry and getting paid. You’re best bet would be to register to Sound Exchange, and every time you get your songs played on internet or satellite radio report it on Sound Exchange, and they will go after your funds.

More about the process is explained to you on the site: http://soundexchange.com. Most radio stations also take the liberty to report the music they are playing to Sound Exchange. Once informed Sound Exchange will collect the royalties and distribute them to you. But don’t rely on that, always be on top of where your music is being played o that you can report it to claim money that is owed to you.
