Hip Hop and rap is being consumes and made by people of all different races and backgrounds. Hip hop is made by people of all colors and sexes; it does not discriminate and that’s why it is the most powerful and successful genre of music.

5) Machine Gun Kelly

 

First up on our list is Machine Gun Kelly also known as MGK. He’s a rap artist from Cleveland, Ohio. MGK embarked on a musical career as a teenager, releasing a mixtape in 2006. He would then go on to release four further mixtapes that garnered him nationwide attention by 2010.

 

The attention MGK was getting from fans caught the attention of none other than Sean “P.Diddy” Combs and he was able to sign a recording contract with Bad Boy and Interscope Records in 2011. His major label debut album entitled “Lace Up,” was released in October 2012 to critical success.

 

The record contained the top 100 singles “Wild Boy”, “Invincible”, “Stereo”, and “Hold On (Shut Up)”, and debuted at number 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Macklamore actually doesn’t consider himself a rapper but a singer and songwriter. Maybe he has the Drake syndrome? None the less Macklamore is from Seattle, Washington, and his name actually originated from his childhood; it was the name of his made-up superhero.

 

Since 2000 he has really been putting in work releasing one mixtape, three EPs, and four albums. He has significantly collaborated with producer Ryan Lewis as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

 

Macklamore’s single “Thrift Shop” reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. The single was premiered on commercial radio by radio and soon said by Billboard as the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label.

Action Bronson is without a doubt well known white rapper. The large sized MC is not only a rapper but also a professional chef. In August 2012, he signed to record label Warner Bros. Records, but was later moved to Atlantic Records’ imprint, Vice Records.

 

Bronson has an unbelievable work ethic, the proof is him having several mixtapes under his belt, such as Rare Chandeliers (2012), with American hip hop producer The Alchemist and Blue Chips 2 (2013), with longtime producer Party Supplies.

 

Before releasing his major label debut, an extended play (EP) titled Saaab Stories, with frequent collaborator Harry Fraud, in 2013. He released his major label debut album, Mr. Wonderful, on March 23, 2015.

Mac Miller is next up on our list. He’s definitely talented and has proven to push album sales due to his cult following. Mac Miller is not only a rapper but is also a noted record producer under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman. Miller is known for taking on multiple alter-egos it ads to the appeal of his music. Some of his alter-egos are under the aliases Delusional Thomas, Larry Lovestein and The Velvet Revival, respectively.

 

In early 2010, Miller signed a record deal with Pittsburgh-based indie record label Rostrum Records. He subsequently began recording his debut studio album Blue Slide Park, and released it on November 8, 2011.
