Drake Says New York No Longer Plays A Role In An Artist’s Success

Recently Toronto native rap super star Drake was featured in the first installment of Fader’s “Obey Your Thirst” documentary series sponsored by Sprite.

In the video, Drake was very candid when it came to talking about how to become a successful artist in this day and age. In the interview Drizzy mentioned that artists no longer need to go to New York city to become successful.

“All these guys that are like, ‘You gotta go to New York and make it happen,’ no you don’t, man,” he says. “That’s dead now. Do it the way The Weeknd did it. Do it the way PARTYNEXTDOOR did it. Do it the way I did it. Do it from where you’re at.”

Drake further explained that he’s not worried about competing with other rappers. He’s more worried about the guy at home striving to become a rapper because that guy is hungry.
