Sycosis

sycosisChicago Hip-Hop artist Sycosis or S.Y. for short, is one step to the left of the line for “ordinary rappers.”Combining “Conscious Rap” elements with aggressive delivery and hard hitting punch lines, Sycosis has a style that varies but a message that stays consistent.

“My main goal is just to challenge myself to make something that I would want to listen to if I didn’t know who it was; I try to challenge other artists to improve their creativity.” The Sycosis brand of Rap is a mixture of story telling and insight reminiscent of Nas, blended with a commanding delivery over powerful production the likes of Mike Mulah (Universal Records) and Skyy Stylez (Trey Songz, Wakka Flakka Flame).

With two official Mixtapes in the “Think Twice” series, Sycosis set to establish himself as a legitimate professional with the 2010 release of the ”Mostly Me” album. His latest project entitled “Tri-Polar” aims to take that goal to the next level with the release of 5 videos for tracks such as “My City”, “Black Whip”, and “Over Everything″. Sycosis states “On this album you will see all different sides of me as an artist, aggressive, intellectual, and easy going which is why I’m calling it Tri-Polar.”

Since officially releasing Tri-Polar on Halloween 2011 its tracks and videos have been featured on several blogs, websites, and Rap internet radio stations across the country and internationally. Now available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, MOG, and the Android Market, the Tri-Polar album and Sycosis are definitely on the rise. Also, he is no stranger to the stage, performing across much of the Midwest and East Coast from Hip-Hop clubs in Chicago (Adrianna’s) to Rock Stations in New York (The Real Radio Show WRCN 103.9) . “It doesn’t matter where you are performing, if you bring energy and be original, people will feel you.”

After being nominated as “Artist To Watch” in the 2012 Underground Music Awards NYC, Sycosis has been setting his own standards high. With plans to release an “In Motion” clothing line and a new album entitled “Axis I” in 2013, this year will definitely be about progress.
