Our next music producer we are showcasing is a man by the name of Taurus James. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida and raised in Washington D.C.

Besides being a music producer Taurus is also a military spouse, a father, minister, and is a freelance web developer. Taurus says that the reason why he’s pursuing music is because ever since he can remember music has been a part of his life. He says when he was very young he always remembers hearing the radio on playing all sorts of music.

Taurus says that the reason why he produces hip hop beats is because that was the genre of music that moved him the most. When he produces his instrumentals he learns about himself, the creation process teaches him a lot about himself and how to express certain emotions that he has.

Taurus doesn’t have any formal training but he’s able to create these incredible beats because art is just expression. But even though creating hip hop instrumentals allow him to be creative and express himself he will tell you that he not only produces for himself but for others as well. His music has allowed him to travel and meet different people and his main goal is to reach people through the music that he creates and let them know that they’re important. Let them know that no matter how hard life gets, no matter how many times people try to get you down, hold your head up high and keep pushing forward because the future is always brighter.

As for the type of hip hop beats he creates, he has classified it as being “moody instrumentals” Mainly because the beats that he creates is usually chill and laid back. Taurus’s beats usually have a nice smooth vibe to it that’s why it’s called “moody instrumentals” he also does a lot of soul sampling which reflects more of a mellow sound in terms of hip hop beats. He can’t rap hype over soul samples, you have to rap in a mellow reflective kind of way.
