1) Make Good Music

I know that the followers of our site is going crazy right now. They have read me putting making good music is the foundation of a successful career many times. And this time is no difference.

As I’ve said many times if you plan to be a one hit wonder staying in the rap game on an average a year or two, make shitty music. But if you plan to a long successful career with many hits, many fans, making millions of dollars; make good music!

2) Make Music Often

The reason for making music constantly is because people consume music at a faster rate than they’ve done in the past. The internet is the cause of this. As soon as a record comes out a fan may listen to it 3 or four times and with the click of a button can stream and listen to someone else’s. So where does that leave you?

Well that leaves you in a spot where you need to consistently make good quality music and put it out in order to meet the demands of fans. it’s as simple as that. Who in rap does this and is successful? Drake, Future, Kanye, Bryson Tiller, Torey Lanez and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few.

3) Media Coverage

Media coverage means media in every area. Anything from publications, music websites, blogs, social media, tv, radio, and news papers. The reason why this is important to maintaining your popular status, is because media can reach millions of people all over the world.

And if you are constantly visible in the eyes of others, you will remain popular and relevant to them. As soon as you slip in being seen in their eyes your status will slowly decline.

4) Create A Brand For Yourself

Many up and coming rappers do not understand the power of creating a brand. You as an artist will never have a bigger impact than you as a brand.

The reason for this is that a reputable brand can open up endless opportunities for you because people buy into brands. Think of Oprah, Jay-Z, Google, Apple, Beats By Dre, etc. These brands are recognized all over the world and because of it they are trusted.

Trusted enough for people to pay them for whatever products or services they provide. You can accomplish the same thing as an artist. Work on your brand and how you present it to the world.

5) Collaborate With Other Successful Artists

Collaborating is a great way for you as an artist to maintain your popularity because it gives you access to a whole new audience. That audience being the fans of the other artist you are collaborating with. Gaining exposure to new fans is imperative to you maintaining popularity because the more fans you have, the more support you will get in the form of album sales, single sales, concert ticket ales, and merchandise sales.

Your job is to go out and get features on tracks that have an international appeal. this type of visibility can have a major impact on your career and keep you in the spotlight for many years to come.
