Mario Dones – 10 Summers (Mixtape)
Pittsburgh MC Mario Dones jumps into what has already been an exciting summer with his brand new mixtape, 10 Summers. Dones goes against the grain and recruits DJ Nice Rec to mix each track live to cassette, giving listeners a real ‘mixtape’ experience. This project previews a few tracks from Mario’s debut album, Black Watermelon, while showcasing the sound he’s developed in the process of putting it together.
“10 Summers is really just the result of everything lining up at the right time. I grew up around DJ’s all my life, so my idea of a mixtape is very particular. I just wanted the listener to be able to go to that same place, especially getting ready for the album. That’s the time and place my music comes from,” explains Dones.
The 20-track mixtape features Supastition, The Sole Vibe, Gannon Sparks, as well as production from Keelay & Zaire, Lazy J, Nice Rec, J. Fish, 1PM and more.
