Sene (BrooklyKnight)

With Sene’s album Brooklyknight, the Brooklyn emcee throws away all East-coast hip hop styles and adopts a more eclectic, free-form style, very similar to that of Blu’s.

What really captivates me about Sene, besides his smooth vocals, are his stories; Sene is a good storyteller, making his songs, and music in general, very interesting to listen to. The rapper also has a great hold on his lyricism, utilizing many multi’s and speaks true when spitting.

He also has some crazy metaphors thrown throughout; not your average, elementary comparisons, but some really dope ones. The production is chill, with mellow vocal-samples and electronic-like ambiance in almost every song’s soundscape. This album is very different from your average hip hop album, but it’s the alternative hip hop that is commanding the attention of the mainstream right now, so you shouldn’t sleep on a soon-to-be alternative hip hop veteran like Sene anymore!

Personally I like it because it is different from what we are hearing right now in hip hop. in hip hop right now mostly all the rappers sound the same rapping about the same shit. it’s good to hear this experimental hip hop sound from a very talented mc.

I hope you’re as open as I am and many other big music media outlets that are giving this rapper a lot of exposure!! Enjoy!
