Make no mistake about it this year has been very hard for a laundry list of artist to sell large amounts of records. But to their defense over the past decade there has been a serious decline in album sales and a steady incline in streaming music.

There are two factors to this. The first factor is the issue of online piracy. A lot of people are getting sophisticated in the way they steal the music as soon as it comes out. The second factor is that a lot of people have the notion that these stars are making so much money from touring, merchandising and music licensing, why should they buy the album?

Whatever the factor was in the case of rapper Troy Ave, he only managed to sell a total of 4,373 copies of his new album. 30 copies being from being physical sales! This is despite him having features from major artists such as Cam’ron, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, and Ty Dolla $ign.
