Top 5 Battle Rappers of 2015

The rap battle scene of 2015 was a very memorable one. Everything from the shenanigans of Daylyt pulling his pants down and trying to defecate on stage at a rap battle event, to Loaded Lux  getting destroyed by Murda Mook; to major mainstream rappers like Busta Rhymes and Drake supporting rap battle events. Last year (2015) was amazing for the rap battle culture, so we decided to put together a list of the top battle rappers who had the most impact and consistency of that year. Also be sure to check out the Top 5 Rap Battles Leagues to stay connected with your favorite networks.

5) Daylyt

His name has been ringing in the rap battle arena’s for a few years now. The very first bout I saw him in was back in 2009 against rapper Locksmith. It was really no competition, Locksmith won it hands down. But since then Day became stronger; perfecting his craft over the years with every match. Last year Daylyt had a few matches, and besides his gimmicks and playing around he had a few good matches, one of them being against Math Hoffa.

His lines where comical but were really hitting  hard. I think Daylyt’s gimicks are getting weaker as time goes by. The crowd is responding with less cheers when they see him pull a stunt. For this year I’d like him to focus more on his rhyming skills and scheme than on dressing up like batman or exposing his body.

Big T made our best battle rappers list of 2015 because he has consistently had great battles ever since he stepped into the game. Since 2009 he has been killing the competition not only in the Ultimate Rap League but in King Of The Dot and Don’t Flop as well.

Big T has earned his spot as one of 2015’s hottest battle rappers. He had many good matches last year, and the big one that stood out was when he faced Dizaster .

As usual Big T put on a display of witty punchlines and hard hitting delivery, along with getting the crowd involved with their responses to every one of his lines. He definitely has a bright future moving forward with his career.

3) T-Top

T-Top had a phenomenal 2015 with some big matches. The talented rapper started to gain clout in 2012 and has never stopped bringing heat since then. T-Top has been working hard to be recognized as one of the top battler’s in the league and if he keeps it up he will be. Last year he faced some big names including: Shotgun Shug, Charlie Clips, and T-Rex. All three matches were amazing. he definitely is one of the best rising stars on the scene and deserves our #3 spot.

2) Charlie Clips

Do we even have to really go into why Charlie Clips is second on out top battle rapper’s of 2015 list? If you’re a true battle rap fan you know why. Charlie has battled practically all of the known best rappers in the different leagues. Most say he has only really lost three times our of his countless matches. I have to say his biggest matches last year was against Loaded Lux and Hollow The Don. Most fans said he won against loaded Lux but lost to Hollow Da Don. I would have to say the same after watching the bout once again earlier today.

It still doesn’t exclude the great year that he had, and has consistently had since his rap battle career. Clips is in almost everyone’s top 5. He will go down as one of the best battle rappers of all times once he decided to call it quits. There’s no doubt about that.

Honestly there is no way around it. No one has had more success in battle rap last year than Hollow Da Don. Going from being a hall of fame rapper at 106 and parks freestyle Friday winner, to taking out the competition in all major battle rap leagues. Hollow is consistent, lyrical, aggressive, freestyles well and a crowd pleaser. All elements needed to be one of the best in his field.

The match that everyone is still talking about is that match with Charlie Clips, it was damn good! Most people including myself maintain that Hollow edged over Charlie in that match and would like to see a rematch between these two skilled rappers this year in 2016. i don’t care who hosts it but it is one of those classic bouts that you would like to see happen again. Hollow deserves all the success he has been getting with winning his matches and making money through his clothing line LOM.
