Action Bronson

Today’s rapper showcase is about a rapper who has been around since 2008, but he is just now earning his respect and notoriety in more hip hop communities. This rapper’s name is Action Bronson.

Action Bronson was born December 2, 1984 in Flushing, Queens, New York. He is an Albanian-American rapper and his stage name actually stems from gangster William “Action” Jackson, and tough-guy actor Charles Bronson. Before entering the rap game he was a gourmet chef in New York, and he also use to own his own online cooking show called “Action In The Kitchen.”

There is one thing that you instantly notice when you listen to Action Branson, this thing sticks out like a sore thumb, And that is Action Bronson sounds very similar to lyrical mastermind Ghostface Killah. When I first heard Action Bronson it was on an independent radio station that plays all hip hop music, and when I heard him I did mistake him as Ghostface Killa. I said to myself damn ghostface got a new joint out, crazy! But then I found out later that is wasn’t Ghostface it was Bronson.

Which is okay I don’t mind, but it seems like the hip hop heads are coming down on him a little bit for sounding like the Wu-Tang Clan legend. When he was asked about him sounding like Ghostface he replied with “Yeah, I mean at the end of the day, it’s all good because Ghostface Killah is one of the best rappers alive, so if I sound similar to the best rapper alive then that is fine.”

I think that sounding like Ghostface Killah will only be a small issue, I think that he has proven that he has skills to rock the mic, and he has his own individual look. From the tracks that I’ve heard from him so far, including some of the songs from his 2011 debut album Dr Lecter , I think that even though he has some rhymes that are considered as being fun and retro, he’s got lyrical skills and can hold his own weight.
