Micky Stirrups
I’m a 28 year old producer living in Stoke on Trent in England. I have been making music since I was 15 but have only started letting the public hear it in the last few months.
I’ve already had a song featured on The Secret Archives of the Vatican podcast, which I was very happy about. My influences are bass-driven music really. Dub, DnB and Jungle are my biggest influences but I listen to all types of stuff ranging from Motown to Venetian Snares.
Going to the Glastonbury music festival has also had a big impact on the music I write. By far the biggest influence on my music is rum though. Hurray for rum!

Dope sounds my dude!
Yeh I like the effects you add to your beats, they’re different you know? Good job I respect dat
yeah it’s pretty good, but I wouldn’t say this is dub. I would say this is more of an effects type beat than dub or jungle. Just coming from a dub dj myself. 😀 good work though.
Thanks man, I worked hard on them.
You can hear the rest of my music at http://www.soundcloud.com/micky_stirrups
Thanks for your comment
Thanks for your comment man. I never claimed it to be dub, I just said I was influenced by it. I’ve tried writing a few dubby pieces but I always end up making them a bit too techno-orientated. Every piece of music you ever hear will influence the music you write and I’ve spent most of my life growing up in and around the rave scene in England.

There is a remix of a Gotan Project song called Arrabal that is quite dubbed up and I think would be right up your street.
Micky
Hi,
I think I posted the reply for you on someone else’s comment! That is one of the dangers of mixing the internet and rum.
I was saying that I never claimed to write dub, only that my music was influenced by it. I couldn’t list all of my influences, there’s so many. And it’s not just musical influences which shape your music. Dub music has been a constant in my life though, I have listened to it since I can remember. My parents were playing me King Tubby and Rico when I was a toddler.
One of the tunes I did which was quite dubby was my remix of a Gotan Project tune. Here’s the link –

Have a listen if you can. I’d love some feedback if you’re able to give some.
Thanks for your comment though man
Hey man i like the second beat the bass is heavy and i like the sounds. it’s hot!
Yeah i do hear some dub influences but as you said it’s not dub. I read the bio and you just say those are your influences which is good. I’m just starting off producing myself, i’m more of an alternative rock and pop type producer, but in the future definitely will experiment with dub, r&b, and hip hop. Why limit yourself right? lol a good producer should be able to produce all genres of music, and i’ll strive to do that. The beats sound great man..good luck with your career!
Its different that’s what makes it nice to listen to… I like both beats.
Chained To Fate sounds really good, I’ll also check out your soundcloud page to listen to more. Cheers!
Thanks a lot man, same to you! If you want to link up or exchange any beats or sounds drop me an email or leave me a message on soundcloud
Thanks for your support mate!
That’d be brilliant man. Leave a few comments on the tracks if you can, all feedback is helpful in the development of my sound
Thanks for taking the time to comment on here
Cheers mate! Hear that tune and more like it at http://www.soundcloud.com/micky_stirrups

These are not really my kinds of beats
Thanks for your support and comment Dave. I love bass, you gotta be able to feel a song as well as hear it!

cool shit, im actually stoned listening to this shit hahaha…post more if you can!
I’m not much of a dub or dance type person but the beats are nice still. If I was really into these beats I’d probably love it lol but yeh dis shit is decent
good instrumentals…on a business note can you guys come check out my health site? hearthealthydietplan.blogspot.com/ i need to build a fan following lol. I know it’s a music site but I got to drop a shameless plug..hope no one gets mad lol.
I don’t know if I can post more (I’ll try and find out) but in the meantime why don’t you go to http://www.soundcloud.com/micky_stirrups
There’s 19 tracks up there, all bass-heavy and authentic Micky Stirrups productions!
Shout out to all my sedated listeners!
beats def got a good bass feel to them…this is why i also like alotta rap and reggae beats cuz of the bass you know? the sound effects in ur beats are nice too. thumz up!
Thanks D-Bo! Bass heavy reggae tracks influence my sound a LOT. I ain’t trying to recreate that sound or write reggae music but the “attitude” of the bass and how it dominates the song is definitely something that I admire
Check out the rest of my tracks at http://www.soundcloud.com/micky_stirrups – if you’re after bassy tracks listen to Flashback. I’m especially proud of the sub frequencies on that one. It recently got featured on http://www.dubsteppers.org and is going to be on a mix tape released by http://www.unsignedhypeuk.co.uk on the 1st of March 2012.
I visited your soundcloud page but couldn’t leave a comment, do i have to register to comment? I don’t know what went wrong, you should take a look into that. great stuff though man.
Yeah you have to register on soundcloud to leave a comment on there, you can’t leave anonymous ones. You can leave a comment here though, which tunes did you listen to? What did you think of them?
Hey there, I forgot the names of the beats i listened to on your soundcloud page but it did sound good. I was trying to commment and it wouldn’t let me so this is why i asked you if you have to sign up. I hate signing up to these sites, they come with so much headaces, and usually send you a lot of spam mail lol. but I like the two that are on here. i’m a producer myself mostly into trip-hop and trance music. im working on building my website now. What are you using to create your beats Ableton live? Reason? Or an audio controller(hardware?)
cool bruh
I write in Ableton live and cubase
I really would recommend soundcloud, it is a good way of getting exposure for your music and is useful for interacting with other musicians.
Make sure you email me a link to your website when it’s up, I’d be interested in hearing your sounds. Trip hop and trance is an interesting mix.
And thank you for your kind words about my music man.
nice work on dem beats boss…sounds unique!
thank you Supafly!
I like it, the mixture of sounds and baselines.
Good job on the new beats Micky they’re definitely catchy!!
Thanks Sam! You said in an earlier comment you were a producer – is there anywhere I can go and listen to your music?
Mickey your stuff sounds great…have you done any projects? As in release your own full LP featuring artist on it? Any of your stuff on radio as yet?
Thanks Dwayne. I haven’t done an LP, I am unsigned at the minute. On my soundcloud page I have 19 songs and I am in talks with a couple of labels over three of them but there has been nothing concrete yet.
As for being on the radio – no not yet. I have had a song played on the Secret Archives of the Vatican podcast – you can download the podcast from here
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=292820706
I’m always looking for new ways to get my music heard by as many people as possible, so if you think you can help drop me an email.
beatz are tight, where you come up with your name man? lol
I like silly names. I had a list to choose from. The other names on the list included Sebastian Bastian, Malcolm Mirrorcrotch, Gerald Dogdick and Franky Beesknees, amongst others. I know it is immature but it makes me laugh.
LOL Funny shit man…Gerald Dog Dick? Really man? lol crazy your instrumentals are okay though, I don’t listen to these types of beats much, but you know, they’re cool.
Groovyyyyy
yeah man, Gerald Dogdick. Never shake his hand he’s one grimy bastard.
Come check out Our Page Micky!
I like your beats keeps pushing to get out there
I will do, have a look at my soundcloud page if you have time

wow you’re getting a lot of luv on this site. I only liked one track and that was Chained To Fate. but good luck with everything man.
So how long have you been producing? Is this sort of just a hobby for you or you plan for it to be a career. I’m trying to get into producing but I’m in a bit of financial situation don’t have the money man! But love creating and listening to others. Once I get my shit together definitely gonna hard making beats.
I have been selected by MTV in the UK for their Brand New for 2012 competition. I know you’re already voting for me on here but if you could spare two more minutes and vote for me on the link below I would be really grateful –

Thank you for your support, I am really grateful
I’ve been messing around with music for years. I’ve always been an avid listener but I first started with a wave editor on my dad’s computer in my early teens. When I was 15 I saved up for Fruity Loops and started messing around on that. As I’ve got older the amount of musical equipment I have has a direct relationship to how much dosh I’ve got. I used to have turntables, monitors, a mixing desk, keyboards, samplers and all sorts. At the minute I’m operating on a pc with ableton on it and a set of headphones but I find that I can get just as good results out of that now. I don’t think it matters too much what equipment you have – if you’re gonna make music you’ll make music on whatever you’ve got.
great sounds my friend
thank you man
Hey Mickey Bitchin Sounds Man! Keep up the nice production
